Sept. 11 announcements
Below is a list of members who do not have pictures for our new directory. We would like to have as many pictures as possible, so for the next three weeks volunteers will be taking pictures after worship. This week, Lundy Morrison is our volunteer and she will be on the east side of the mall to take your picture. Next week we plan to take pictures again—this time under the grove of trees after our outdoor worship.

Invite your friends, family and neighbors to join us!

Flapjacks for Uganda & the Sunday Switch July 10
July 10 is an important day for Garnett: Sunday class times are changing AND we’re having a pancake breakfast to help raise funds for the Garnett team traveling to Uganda!
Here’s the plan:
9 – 10 am Pancake Breakfast: Fundraiser for Uganda Mission Team, $5 suggested donation
10 – 11 am Worship: Children’s worship dismissal before sermon
11 – 11:15 am Break and Coffee: in Cafe Mosaic
11:15 – 12 noon Community Classes (Children 5th grade and under already in Kid’s Worship and will stay for classes)
We’re doing this because we want to grow spiritually and numerically, and we have low attendance in our classes. So we’re also adding classes. The first additional class will be on parenting. Kids will already be in class and parents can enjoy a great class on parenting skills and fellowship with parents.
July 10th we will CELEBRATE this new venture on Sunday mornings and to support the Garnett Team traveling to Uganda we will have a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser from 9am-10am in Phillips Hall, worship at 10 am, classes at 11:15 am. Suggested donation for pancakes is $5 and all proceeds will be divided between Jo Morton, Ben & Beth West, Tim Herbel, and Rebecca Smith.

Coming in July
July 10 is an important day for Garnett. We plan to begin Children’s Worship again. Children will be let out of worship before the sermon. Teams are forming to lead Children’s Worship again.
We’re also planning a class for parents with children of all ages. The class will develop themes out of the current Fearless Families sermon series and build a community connection between those with children from infant to college age.
Beginning July 10, we are also planning to have our worship at 10 am as the first event of our day and moving our Bible classes after worship from 11:15 to noon. The proposal is to switch classes to after worship from July 10 till the Sunday before Labor Day, then take Labor Day off and in the meantime decide if this is a good switch and whether or not to keep the classes after worship or switch them back.
Currently we do not have a high attendance at our 9 am children’s classes. So one rationale for adding a community for parents with children and changing the class time is to increase the number of parents and children who come to our classes. This will also give us a one-and-a-half hour worship and teaching block for the children, rather than them going to class, worship, then back to same place for children’s worship.
We have a month to refine this and lay out more of the plan we can all follow together, and we’ll put something in the bulletin each week to update you on plans. For comments and questions, please email me at gtaylor@garnettchurch.org.
