Extraordinary Women
If you are going to the Extraordinary Women Conference, Jo Morton has your ticket. Please see her. There was a $2 processing fee for each ticket. If you’d like, please pay that forward by putting a couple of bucks in the Water Well Buck in front of the Coffee Bar. If you’d like to order a box lunch ($10) for Saturday, please call 800-526-8673. Lunches must be pre-ordered. Jo Morton – 633-3330.

Test Monitors – Cooper Elementary
Cooper Elementary School needs test monitors mostly in the mornings from April 18th- May 6th. The monitors would need to come to Cooper to get trained to be a monitor. (Training could take place 15-20 minutes before your time slot.) During monitoring, we ask that they sit quietly and make sure the students are not looking at each others tests and there is nothing improper going on. Monitors are not allowed to have their cell phones on or to bring a book to read during monitoring. They may either be a monitor for an individual student, small group of students, or a whole classroom of students. We try to accommodate monitors who have health issues such as not being able to walk far. The monitors must be 18 years or older and out of school. If you are available, please contact Trisha Lawrence at the school.

After a probe into the accuracy of the group can count in the Souper Bowl of Caring, the Student Life Group has emerged as the winner with 381 cans. A recount of cans, including some “hanging labels” and a decision by “Supreme Can Council” has led to this incredible turn of events. The total count is still 1654, a tremendous boost to the Food Pantry’s ability to serve those in need in East Tulsa.

The following is the recount. Basic Church: 350 Garnett (general-no life group): 255 St. Francis: 260 Youth: 381 Sycamore: 87 Midtown: 27 Horses & Harleys: 53 20/30: 241

Well, it looks as though the weather is going to foil our plans for The Gathering again this week. SO we are moving it to NEXT week, Wednesday February 16th. Jared & Kyler will still be leading worship & Marvin Phillips will still be coming to speak on Hosea.

In addition to The Gathering on the 16th, we will be hosting a free community meal at 5pm in conjunction with Fast Forward, a group looking at public transportation in our area. They will be providing the meal & a program from 5-7pm. They are primarily collecting information about using public transportation & would really love your input on this important issue for so many in our immediate community. You can find out more at their website here: http://www.fastforwardplan.org

The meal will be at 5pm & we will start the Gathering at 7pm on Wed. Feb. 16th. Thanks for being flexible with us!

Garnett Family,
Got cabin fever? Come to Worship! We are in the process of having the parking lot cleared and DO plan to have worship service at 10:00am tomorrow. To allow for additional travel time, we will not have classes. In addition, to allow for the highest participation, we are rescheduling the Family Budget and Vision meeting for next Sunday, February 13th directly after service. (But there will be donuts from the Full Cup Bakery this week!)

Although the lot and front drive should be clear we would appreciate help at 9am to salt and shovel some of our sidewalks.

But, the Souper Bowl Challenge is still on, so stock up on your canned goods & represent your Life Group by bringing them next Sunday morning to the Auditorium to see who wins the challenge. Remember, the real winner will be the recipients of Garnett’s Food Pantry, so bring it on!

30-Minute Visit with a Senior Member Winter is tough on our elderly members. We have 20 poinsettias in the Mall with names and phone numbers on them. Grab one on the way out and make a visit, sing a song, read a scripture, pray, and give a flower to brighten up their day.

Children Acting Director – Greg Taylor

Valentine’s Day Party The Garnett Kids will have a party to celebrate Valentine’s Day on Sunday, February 13, at 10 am in the End Zone. More details next week.

Students Acting Director – Lance Newsom

Souper Bowl Party The Student Small Group will have a Souper Bowl Party at the Deavenport’s on Sunday, February 6. More details next week.

Upcoming The Gathering Marvin Phillips will be our speaker at The Gathering on February 2. Join us at 7pm in Phillips Hall for a night of worship with Kyler Erwin & Jared Hard and a message by Marvin Phillips. (And come early to Cafe Mosaic before The Gathering-we’ll be open starting at 9am!)

Souper Bowl of Caring The Super Bowl February 6 is a good opportunity to gather in our Life Groups, and why not use this opportunity to help others and have a little competition of our own?!

First, throw a Super Bowl party for your Life Group and invite your neighbors, co-workers, and friends to join you.

Second, call the party “Souper Bowl of Caring.” The Souper Bowl of Caring started nationally 20 years ago when a youth group prayed, “Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl, help us be mindful of those without even a bowl of soup to eat.” That thought sparked the Souper Bowl of Caring, and since then $71 million dollars has been raised for the Food Bank, where Garnett gets food to serve hundreds of needy families each year. We will be collecting cans as part of the national effort but distributing them right from Garnett, which is a Food Bank of Northeastern Oklahoma official location.

Here’s the competition. Let’s see which Life Group can collect the most soup cans and most importantly how many cans total can we collect for Garnett’s Food Pantry!

Cans must be 10-11 oz like the traditional Campbell’s Soup size cans.

Collect cans and bring them to the stage February 13 with your Life Group name and can count.
