Souper Bowl of Caring

The Super Bowl is a good opportunity to gather in our Life Groups, and why not use this opportunity to help others and have a little competition of our own?!

Here are two ways Garnett Church of Christ leadership is encouraging our body to serve.

First, throw a Super Bowl party for your Life Group and invite your neighbors, co-workers, and friends to join you. Let’s take advantage of the opportunity to invite people to our homes and Life Groups so we can get to know each other. As you get to know one another, invite them to church, have The Story invitation cards available.

Second, call the party “Souper Bowl of Caring.” The Souper Bowl of Caring started nationally 20 years ago when a youth group prayed, “Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl, help us be mindful of those without even a bowl of soup to eat.” That thought sparked the Souper Bowl of Caring, and since then $71 million dollars has been raised for the Food Bank, where Garnett gets food to serve hundreds of needy families each year. We will be collecting cans as part of the national effort but distributing them right from Garnett, which is a Food Bank of Northeastern Oklahoma official location.

Here’s the competition.  Let’s see which Life Group can collect the most cans, if we can collect more food than Connection Church; and most importantly how many cans total can we collect for Garnett’s Food Pantry!

After you collect at your Souper Bowl Parties, each Life Group can bring cans to Garnett & the final tallies will be announced on Sunday February 12th.
